Abbas's 'Crusade'

I've written before about the Palestinian penchant for talking about Jerusalem, and not just "East Jerusalem".

Now we read that Abbas is demanding that any freeze include not only the settlements, but also Jerusalem as well--which is not a settlement, but the capital of Israel.

On this P David Hornik writes that Abbas appears to be on a "Crusade" of sorts:

the issue of a settlement-freeze extension now comes down to Abbas saying it has to include Jerusalem, and Shas--and its spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef--saying they're willing to swallow a lot more ignominy but not if it includes Jerusalem. This unmasks something: the "Israeli-Palestinian conflict" is in large part a Muslim effort to wrest Jerusalem, which means primarily its focus of holiness, the Temple Mount, from the infidel Jews. A revealing moment is here for anyone who cares to look at it, and isn't too politically correct to do so.[emphasis added]
Of course, this is not a Crusade--it's a matter of Jihad.
The difference being that Christianity has is part of the 21st century--and Islam lives in the 7th.

The Arabs are ticked off that the Jews have Jerusalem and they are willing to deny it to them. The one thing in the world they are not interested in is sharing Jerusalem with the infidel Jews. You have to wonder how that sits with racist leftist Jews who have been trying to get the Shimon HaTzaddik neighborhood cleansed of Jews. It never occurs to them the Arabs want them gone from their homes in WEST Jerusalem as well.

Go figure.
